In times of rapid and fundamental change (driven by technology), it’s vital to stay informed and be ready to adapt. That means becoming a “lifelong learner.” (see e.g., HBR article and McKinsey article)
Lifelong learning is not just a buzzword; it’s necessary in today’s fast-changing world.
Staying Relevant
New information, technologies, and work methods are needed to avoid being trapped in outdated, inefficient ways that will quickly render you uncompetitive or —worse— irrelevant.
Whether it’s learning new software or understanding digital marketing, staying current ensures that you'll remain valuable to clients now and in the future.
Two examples:
AI tools: GenAI is becoming prevalent in legal drafting, research, and writing, so attorneys who understand and use tools like Clearbrief, Spellbook, and Gavel will have an advantage over those who don’t.
Cybersecurity protection: With the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber attacks on law firms, attorneys need to be current on the latest cybersecurity threats and prevention measures.
⏰ By the way, I’m doing a Zoom presentation on understanding cybersecurity threats to avoid them better (this Thursday at Noon Central time). If you're interested in joining, click the link below:
