The real reason lawyers feel overwhelmed
Forget “time-saving” tricks—the real solution for overwhelm is radically different
A recent survey of solo and small firm lawyers revealed what frustrates them the most.
I was surprised by their top answer, although I probably shouldn’t have been.
The results
“Time management” is the most significant challenge.
Many attorneys are struggling with managing their time.
Specifically, they are having challenges “balancing practice demands with life outside of work.”
Another big challenge is the sheer volume of work. Specifically, “managing their workload.”
So they report feeling overwhelmed. And they “struggle with the volume of data” they have to deal with, especially when they need to analyze it for trial.
Bottom line: time management in the face of an increased work load is the biggest pain point in solo and small firm practices.
What’s the answer? In short…
Think differently
Contrary to popular advice, becoming ‘more efficient’ is not the answer.
If you want radical improvement you need to leverage AI.
Like these lawyers in my ChatGPT workshop, who report…
"The more I use it, it’s actually scary how good I'm getting with it… I couldn’t imagine not using it now.” — Brandon Siegal
"Using ChatGPT to prepare an affidavit for an expert — man, just so quick. The more you use it, the more mind-blowing it is." — Joe Prieto
“I tried the voice version of ChatGPT on my phone-totally blew me away. I picked a voice and it already feels like I've got a virtual teammate.” — Richard Serpe
