If you need more clients, the good news is that you can get them fairly easily.

But the ones that are easiest to attract are on the low-end of desirability.

That's the bad news

Also, if you want a steady influx of clients, it'll be a bit harder.

So, that's more bad news.

The good news

It's possible to attract high-quality clients, and it doesn't have to cost much.

It's even possible to attract them in a steady stream.

That's really good news, right? But...

Unfortunately, most lawyers don't know how to market themselves, so they're stuck with low-level clients. And they have to take anything that walks in the metaphorical door.

I used to be stuck at that level, but after meticulous study, I learned the powerful (but little-known) keys to marketing effectively.

And I learned how to market online, which is the most challenging way of getting clients.

When I started my blog in 2002, it was easy to get attention online.

Now it's very hard.

And many lawyers are marketing online now, so let's talk about that.

Online Marketing

Getting attention using the Internet and social media is (theoretically) fairly easy.

But running ads or playing the SEO game is expensive. And the algorithms change constantly.

Worst of all, most attorneys get only low-quality clients that way.

You don't want just any old type of client. You want high-quality ones, right?

How to attract high-quality clients

Attracting high-quality clients is what I wanted, and that's why I spent a lot of time studying marketing.

What I learned was it's possible to use the Internet or social media to get attention in a way that attracts top notch clients.

I learned that you don't need to pay for ads or fight against changing algorithms.

Is it easy to attract high-quality clients? No, but it doesn't have to be as hard as most people think.

First, don't do any of the things that make high-quality clients more skeptical than they already are.

Don't undermine trust

If you communicate in the wrong way, people will avoid you.

This is especially true of high-quality clients. Because they're usually discriminating and wary of being pandered to.

Sadly, many lawyers wind up communicating in ways that come across as insincere or even cheesy (for example, like this)

So, if you want to attract more high-quality clients, you need to communicate well—especially online or in emails.

The best medium is email

Contrary to what you might expect, a website is NOT the best medium to use for communicating with high-quality clients.

If you have one, that's fine, but you need something else.

Specifically, you need to use email marketing.
